Coaching Staff
We have been very fortunate to have had quality instructors that have donated their time to help make this annual event a success. Over the last eight years all camp instructors have been high school coaches or collegiate / former-collegiate players who believe in the importance of teaching the fundamental aspects of the game of basketball to young players.

NCAA Division II Mens’ Basketball
-is a former 4 year collegiate player at BYUH, prior to becoming the assistant coach at BYUH was the Physical Education Department Coordinator and teacher at ASSETS School, has assisted at the Pete Newell Big Man’s Camp, Masters in Physical Education from University of Hawaii at Manoa (2001).
Aaron Griess, Former Head Coach, Chaminade University
NCAA Division II Mens’ Basketball
-is a former collegiate player in Colorado, was an assistant coach at Chaminade University for a number of years prior to being named the Athletic Director and Mens’ Basketball Head Coach of Chaminade University.
Kalia McGee, University of Hawaii, Manoa
Collegiate Player (1992 - 1995)
Kamehameha Schools, Boys’ Basketball
-4 year starting guard at UH, presently an assistant coach for the Kamehameha Schools Boys’ Basketball program, also an assistant coach at the University High School in 1999.
Nani Cockett, University of Hawaii, Manoa
Collegiate Player (1993 - 1996)
Kamehameha Schools, Girls’ Basketball
- after completing 4 outstanding years at UH she has gone on to play professionally overseas, most recently in Turkey. She is currently an assistant coach in the Kamehameha Schools Girls’ Varsity Basketball program.
Wade Nakamura, Head Coach, Presentation High School (California)
Girls’ Varsity Basketball - collegiate player at Cal State Hayward University (1991), 2 Time California Central Coast Section Coach of the year (1999, 2000).
Tim Young, Stanford University
Collegiate Player (1994 - 1999) - completed his collegiate career at Stanford in 1999, played professionally in the NBA and overseas (Spain).
Kahi Villa, Brigham Young University, Hawaii
Collegiate Player (1998 - 2001) - completed his 4 year collegiate career at BYUH in 2001, played professionally overseas (Philippines).
Blaine Gier, Head Coach, Maryknoll High School
Boys’ Varsity Basketball - was a four year collegiate player at the College of Notre Dame (California), returned to Hawaii to teach at Maryknoll schools, after coaching within the program there for over seven years was named head coach of the Maryknoll Boys’ Basketball program in 2002.
Eric Nakabayashi, Head Coach, Nanakuli High School
Varsity Girls’ Basketball - has been coaching boys’ and girls’ basketball in Hawaii for many years. He has been a head coach at Radford High School, ASSETS High School, and other programs.
Ryan Hogue, University of Hawaii, Hilo
Collegiate Player (2000 - 2003)
Varsity Girls' and Boys' Basketball - after completing his collegiate career at UH Hilo he returned to his alma mater where he was head coach for the Kalaheo High School Girls’ Varsity Basketball Program for a number of years prior to accepting his current position as Athletic Director and head boys' basketball coach at the Academy of the Pacific.
Reggie De La Cruz, Assistant Coach, Roosevelt High School
Varsity Boys’ Basketball - has been coaching boys’ basketball and football in Hawaii for many years after completing his football career at UH. He was the varsity assistant at Roosevelt High School (from 1993 to 1998).
Oa McGee, Assumption College (Massachussetts)
Collegiate Player (1999 - 2003) - since graduating from Kaiser High School in 1998, Oa red-shirted at the University of Hawaii before transferring to Assumption College (NCAA Division II school) where he completed his collegiate career.
Pierre Elliot, Pacific University (Oregon)
Collegiate Player (1998 - 2002) - since graduating from Kaiser High School in 1997, Pierre has been playing at Pacific U. (a NCAA Division II school). He earned his degree in May 2001 but returned to play out his remaining year of eligibility.
